Cruelty Free beauty is something I’ve had an interest in for a while now. Although I really wanted to make the move, I wasn’t really sure how to go about it. In this post I’ll talk you through why I chose to go cruelty free […]
It’s my first recipe post! Hopefully this will be one of many. I recently ran a poll on Twitter about what type of posts you want to see more of on Black Coffee Breakfast. The results came in with a majority wanting Lifestyle and Food […]
I’ve always been a small business supporter. My Dad runs his own business, and I know he had to start from nothing. Without the support of his peers and kind strangers, he wouldn’t have been able to make it happen. That’s why I always do my best to buy from small businesses and traders. Because of this, I’ve decided to start featuring a “Small Business of the Month”.
*I was sent the following samples free of charge in exchange for an honest review*.
Who are Moonlight Melts? Find out below.
I was lucky enough to be sent three sample wax melts from Moonlight Melts. The scents I received were chosen at random and include “Cassis and Black Vanilla”, “Jasmine and White Tea”, and Aromatherapy Relax”. Cassis and Black Vanilla contains bergamot, cassis, and black vanilla. It has a beautiful floral aroma and it’s definitely my favourite scent out of the three. Jasmine and White Tea has more sweet connotations and an underlying scent of amber. Lastly, Aromatherapy Relax is a musky lavender scent, which I feel would be perfect for those who struggle to sleep.
The first melt I decided to try out was Cassis and Black Vanilla, as I’m really into floral scents. The inspiration behind this scent was the Armani Si fragrance. This is actually a new fragrance to the Moonlight Melts shop and is available for £1.85 per pack (each pack contains 4 wax melts).
Just lighting up this wax burner gave me all of the Autumnal vibes! In our house, we always like to have a candle or wax melt going to keep a lovely aroma circulating. With the wax burner going once again, it’s starting to feel a lot cozier already!
Pretty as they are, wax melts can be dangerous if used incorrectly. I’ve listed a few of the safety guidelines for these wax melts below.
– Only use one tea light in your burner at a time
– Ensure your burner is on a level surface
– Do not place near flammable objects i.e. curtains or other fabrics
– Don’t move your burner when wax is melted
– Keep all flames away from other heat sources and air currents
The other two melts I received (but haven’t tried out yet) were Jasmine and White Tea and Aromatherapy Relax. On the Moonlight Melts shop, the Jasmine and White Tea are priced at £1.30 or £1.90 a pack – depending on what size pack you choose. The Aromatherapy Relax are £1.80 per pack. The products are an amazing quality and are definitely well priced considering they’re all handmade.
I can’t wait to try out the other two melts in my little sample pack!
On average, each wax melt lasts for 5-8 hours. This time can vary depending on what kind of wax burner you’re using to melt them. Mine has lasted well so far, the tea light I was using to burn them ran out quicker than the melt with my Cassis and Black Vanilla!
There’s currently a 30% off sale on the Moonlight Melts store on selected products. This offer is to celebrate their first full year of trading. Use the code BDAYMOON for the 30% off discount! To shop their products, click here.

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a favourites post, and this’ll be my first one on this blog. Instead of doing your run of the mill kind of post, I’ve given this one a little theme. You may have been able to guess it already from the title image. The theme of this months favourites is colour based – specifically, blue. It’s my favourite colour, the colour of my room, and coincidentally the colour of most of this months favourite items!
There’s something about writing up a monthly favourites post that makes me feel oddly nostalgic. It takes me back to the old-school blogging days; before everyone was self hosted and nobody had a clue what SEO was. I haven’t done a post like this in a long time and I feel like they could make more of an appearance from now on as I really enjoyed creating this one.
Let’s get down to it! What have I been loving this July?
Barry M Nail Polishes
I’ve got quite the collection of Barry M polishes which has grown considerably over time. They’re a super affordable highstreet brand and they’re also cruelty free! This is important to me as I’m currently trying to switch over to cruelty free beauty.
Strengthening my nails is something I’m always trying to do. Over the years, my nails haven’t been in the best shape. This is mainly due to my terrible nail-biting habit, and a love/hate relationship with acrylic nails. I turned to the Barry M nail care polishes to help repair my natural nails. I personally love the Iron Mani for strengthening and hardening the natural nail. It dries almost instantly and gives nails a lovely natural shine.
With it being Summer, I’m loving bright and fun nail polishes. The Coconut Infusion range from Barry M have some amazing shade ranges available. I have several different shades and like to co-ordinate the colours with my outfit when I have the time. I mainly enjoy wearing this light blue shade as it looks bright and fresh while still remaining subtle.
Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume
Since the age of fifteen, I’ve asked for a different high-end perfume every birthday and Christmas. Over the years I’ve tried scents from Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana, and now Marc Jacobs too.
When I first got this perfume, I can’t say I was the biggest fan. I previously used much stronger scents and found this one paled in comparison. It’s definitely more of a subtle scent. I’ve grown to love it over time as it’s quite fresh and reminds me of fresh linen. This bottle has lasted me since Christmas last year, considering I’ve used it almost every day I’m quite impressed.
Although I wasn’t as impressed with it in the past, I’ve grown to love it and it’s become one of my staple scents.

Superdrug Vitamin E Moisture Mask
I’ve made it no secret that I’m incredibly passionate about skincare. My bathroom is full to the brim with copious amounts of products from cleansers to toners and creams. You name it, I probably have it!
Something I’ve always suffered with from time to time is psoriasis. It’s not been as much of an issue lately as I’ve managed to get it under control, however I’m always prone to the occasional flare-up. When this happens I need to switch up my skincare routine to deal with each separate issue. The stand-out product of this routine has got to be this moisture mask from the Superdrug skincare range.
It’s a heavy duty moisturiser which softens and hydrates dry skin without leaving a greasy residue. That’s also important for me as my skin can get incredibly oily over the course of the day. This is a staple product for me whenever the weather gets a little colder. Sadly, I’ve had to start using it this Summer due to the drop in the weather.

No Filter by Grace Victory
Since watching the BBC documentary “Clean Eating’s Dirty Secrets” I’ve been obsessed with all things Grace Victory. She stands up for what she believes in and has an amazing no-bullshit attitude that I can only hope to have. Her book, No Filter, launched 28th July this year and although I haven’t finished reading it yet, I’m still including it in this months favourites! I’m currently on Chapter 8 and I’m finding it hard to put down. Her story is captivating and so raw that you feel the need to know what happens next.
In addition to talking through the high and low-points of her life, Grace includes some really helpful real-life advice for those who may be struggling. This includes anything from information about self harm and depression to seeking refuge from domestic violence. I wont be posting any spoilers (I’m not that mean) but I may upload a review very soon so keep an eye out for that.

Stock photos have an important role in the blogging industry, though you might not be aware of it. Have you ever seen an amazing quality, stand out image and thought “Wow”? You may have been looking at a stock photo. For a busy blogger in a pinch, they’re an absolute life saver!
These images are available in the thousands, you just have to know where to look. Free stock photos have a public license, which means anybody has the right to use them. This applies to both personal and commercial use. So if you’re a small business owner looking for an image to use in your advertising – look no further.
So here they are, the top 10 best sites for FREE stock photos.
These sites are all jam packed with photos, but you can always search a keyword to narrow down the results. This also makes it easier to find exactly what you’re looking for. Personally, I don’t like using stock photos in my blog posts. Using your own images really showcases your personal style to your readers, and also brands. However, I have used them in the past to promote posts on social media. It gives them a more professional edge, especially if you use a good eye-catching image.
If you find blogging resource posts like this one helpful, then leave a comment below! I have a variety of different tips & tricks to share.
